Orange – a major global telecommunications brand, had a need to develop an app to compete with the likes of Skype and WhatsApp. In order to achieve this, they needed to up skill within highly specialist area of Voice of IP (VoIP). At the same time as developing this compentance, they also wanted to reduce the reliance they had on expensive (and sometimes unreliable) external consultancies.
Vertex Solutions were engaged at the point that they had been searching for a solution for some months. We conducted a full market search and prepared a short list of experts in their field. The final selection testified to the global nature of our candidate reach as we provided one engineer from the UK and one from Canada. Both had experience working on large scale platforms which would fit in with the requirements and in some cases superseded the experience needed.
The two engineers established themselves as key members of the service and the product as a whole, we went on to provide five more engineers to complete the team and work with the client to build out an interview format for all engineers. Additionally, due to our ability to source some of the scarcest consultants in the market our remit was expanded to helping build out all of the teams including back end server side, big data and analytics, design and mobile. This remit was not afforded to any other consultancy other than our own.
The application went on to beat it’s deadline for one million users, with the voice platform being rolled out into other applications and services being recognised as one of the finest of its kind. Vertex were successful in giving Orange the ability to reduce costs, regain control whilst developing a world class application that exceeded expectations.
