Middleware Engineer - Apache, JBoss, Agile, Scrum, Chef

THE ROLE

Major banking organisation urgently seeks an experienced Middleware engineer/developer to join their large Middleware and messaging operations team for an ongoing contract position.

This role is to be a Middleware engineer / developer responsible for the creation and enhancement of strategic platforms and integrated components to support Middleware Services and PaaS (Platform as a Service). You will be involved in design and development of new systems, Testing and automation, tooling and training.

You MUST have previous experience as an engineer or developer in large scale middleware environments, preferrably in financial services, banking or similar areas. You should be very familiar with working in heavily Agile focused areas and will have worked in or with Scrum teams. You must be solid on Agile and any Kanban would also be beneficial. Core skill requirements are Apache, Tomcat, JBoss and Chef.

Technically it is a varied environment with a broad range of technologies. It is important that you have good experience in as many of the following as possible: Apache, Tomcat, Websphere Application server/WAS, JBoss, MQ, IIB, RedHat Linux, Java development, Javascript

Any additional knowledge or skills in DevOps tools or areas would also be very welcome. These include Docker, Chef, Kubernetes, PaaS design or DevOps automation.

It is not expected that you will have all of the experience listed above but preference will be shown to those with a broad range of skills and experience. The critical skillset is Middleware implementation, testing and automation in an Agile and Scrum environment.

This is an initial 6 month contract but will extend multiple times if standards are met. Fast turnaround on cvs.
